Gergis Ghobrial, M.D., F.R.C.S.

Dr. Ghobrial is a board-certified hernia specialist with over 25 years of experience in trauma, critical care, and general surgery. His special interests are in advanced robotic-assisted hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction for large, complex ventral hernia.  He completed General Surgery residency focused on the art of minimal access technique in Ireland and England in 1992,  where he was certified in General Surgery and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Dr. Ghobrial moved to the United States in 1993. In order to qualify for the American Board certification, he completed a second General surgery residency at Drew/UCLA university where he was awarded executive chief resident and the teacher of the year. His passion for advancing surgical education earned him the appointment of Assistant Professor at Drew/UCLA University, where he was actively involved in the teaching of medical students and surgical trainees in the General Surgery Residency program. 

He served as the Chief of Surgery and as an active member of multiple committees at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and is a member of the Americas Hernia Society. He is always up-to-date with current surgical technique and technology and is committed to the advancement of minimally invasive hernia repair.
